6 boats competed in the first ever Streaker open meeting to be held at Waveney & Oulton Broad YC in Suffolk. Conditions looked grim as the 3 visitors arrived to find rain showers and no wind but gradually things improved. The wind was never steady and reliable, swinging from the north to the east and back again, and for most of the day there were big black clouds building but remarkably by the third and final race the weather was quite warm and sunny.
Ian Bradley was the leader for most of the first two races but got pipped at the post twice by local sailor Veronica Falat who knew the sneaky ways to get to the finish. Mark Langston was never far behind but also had to scrap with Adam Yorkston and Chris Abela and their were extra challenges in the morning as the club races were underway too and the local keelboats take up quite a lot of room! For the last race the Streakers and Lasers had the broad more to themselves and a longer course was set and this time, after a really close battle on the first lap with Veronica, Mark and Adam, Ian Bradley managed to get clear and win in style.
