2018 open meeting season ends at West Riding on 20th October

The Northern Paddle Series started back in March with the Ripon open meeting and the 13th and final event in the series is on Saturday 20th October at West Riding. It's also the final event in the Rooster Super Series which has included the championships during the year.

To qualify in the Northern Paddle series you count your best 12 race results and Martin Penty from Beaver SC has a clear lead, counting 12 first places! In 2nd place is Phil Manning (Delph SC) with 6 firsts and 6 seconds, and class chairman Ian Priest is in 3rd place.

Qualification in the Rooster Super Series is different. You count your best 3 overall results from the 6 events. West Riding is our End of Season Championship and so is part of the series. Leading into it, Ian Jones of Dovestone SC is the current leader having won the Inlands and finished 2nd at both the Northerns and the Nationals. However, he's only 1 point clear of Doug Horner from Swanage SC who has won the Scottish and the Southerns and was 4th at the Inlands.

With this being the final open meeting of the year, the prize-giving is particularly important and will be the occasion when the draw is made to see who has won a brand new Sail Register sail. Every SCOA member who competes in the Northern Paddle series stands a chance of winning and the more races you do, the better your chance is. So don't miss out!
