Another successful Streaker Northern Championships at Beaver Sailing Club on the weekend of 20-21 June 2026, with an excellent turnout of 26 Streakers racing in almost champagne conditions, blessed with both wind and sunshine. There were 8 visitors from Yorkshire Dales, Redditch, Swarkestone, Hykeham, Rutland and Ripon sailing clubs.
A varied mixed bag of results, with helms Martin Penty, Giles Therkelson-Smith, Dave Borrett, Steve Hanby and Ollie Groves all taking a top place finish over the six races. It was down to the final race on Sunday to crown Martin Penty the overall winner, with Giles 2nd and Ollie Groves close in 3rd place.
Some great competitive racing across a well behaved fleet, with everything laying on the final race to make that most important win over their closest rivals and slingshot some into the prestigious top ten.
A few restarts caused a bit of commotion, but Race Officer David Nicklin had the matter well under control. With three different courses set over the weekend, everyone enjoyed the best possible racing with a changeable wind, increasing to planing conditions, cooling the heated brows of most.
This year's Merit award went to Beaver's new member John Simpson who finished 19th in the final race, showing massive improvements.
