Staunton Harold Blows Up!
A steady breeze eased nine Streakers out this morning at the Staunton Harold SC open, running alongside the Aero open.
Staunton's Peter Gray wrapped up the event with an impressive three bullets, with Beaver's, dare I say OAP, Steve Hanby taking a well deserved 2nd overall, getting revenge on our friendly Nigel Pepperdine who deservedly took 3rd on the day.
The second of the morning's back to back races certainly brought the event to life, with six boats all fighting for those top places as the wind whipped up to bring the fleet onto some rip roaring planes and a few temperamental gybes, inevitably compromising the stability of our helms.
The forecast was definitely true to form, with strong 28 mph plus gusts taking their toll on a few into the beginning of the 3rd race, leading to four retiring. Meanwhile the top four battled it out, potentially grabbing that much needed higher place of glory.
With nothing to gain position-wise it was time to throw caution to the wind and settle for a damage free event.
